Dear Colleague:
The Towson University Department of Geography and Environmental Planning, along with other co-sponsors, announce our 22nd Annual Geographic Information Sciences Conference. TUgis 2009 will be held on Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17, 2009 on the Towson University campus.
TUgis 2009 will emphasize information sharing, or technology transfer, by anyone currently using GIS and anyone considering using GIS. The theme for TUgis 2009 is “Web GIS: New Tools for Data Sharing and Collaboration.” The plenary presenters for TUgis 2009 are:
|
Dr. Sean Gorman, CEO and Founder, FortiusOne |
|
Clint Brown, Director, Software Products, Environmental Systems Research Institute |
TUgis 2009 provides GIS and other professionals with the opportunity to share their experiences and receive recognition for their work. We encourage proposals of presentation topics for concurrent sessions that include individual presentations, panel presentations, mini-workshops, and a poster session.
The Preliminary Program for TUgis 2009 is now available for download at:
TUgis 2009 Preliminary Program
Our largest program to date, TUgis 2009 includes 2 plenary presentations, 29 concurrent sessions featuring 86 presentations, and 12 mini-workshops. TUgis 2009 also features an exhibit area with over 40 exhibitors, an ice-breaker social, a job mart, a map design competition, and an ESRI Doctor's Office. This program, which was prepared with the assistance of our Advisory Committee, incorporates many recommendations made by last year’s attendees.
Note: online registration for TUgis 2009 is now closed. We will be accepting registrations on-site during the conference.
By the way, TUgis 2009 will once again be a "green conference." The conference will follow recommendations included in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Guide to Planning and Conducting Environmentally Aware Meetings and Events. In addition to increased recycling efforts, we will purchase a "carbon offset" for TUgis 2009 from Carbonfund.org.
